No milk today
-No milk today- (song of Hermans Hermits)
Before we emigrated to Sweden (during our holidays) we saw many of these "tabels" along deserted roads.
In our imagination this was a bus stop where the school bus picked up the children.
Well, we were still in an ignorant and imaginative phase at that time, where trolls could crawl under every stone and even a sign along the road with "snickeri" on it, was a factory where Snickers candybar were made (instead of a carpentry workshop).
Nowadays we know more and learn more and more about Swedish and Scandinavian history.
This turns out to be a milk table (1930-1960) where farmers put their milk to be picked up by a cart. That the milk jugs were at the same height as the cart was very practical for the driver and progressive!
Now you can still find them here and there as a beautiful decoration, used as a mailbox and entrance to a farm. Still beautiful, especially when children are waiting for the school bus here
