I come from a football family. Our weekends revolved around the game. We were either standing on the sidelines, playing on the pitch, or sitting in front of the television watching football highlights and analysis. Live matches or summaries—it didn't matter. My family simply loved the sport.

Then I met an amazing man who had absolutely no interest in football. Somehow, from that moment on, I stopped being a spectator. That was, until all three of our children eagerly embraced the beautiful game themselves.

Even a move to Sweden didn't change a thing. With complete dedication, my three kids threw themselves into life at the local football club, Timmele GOIF. And just like that, my weekends once again became all about football—this time on the sidelines of Swedish pitches.

Now that the World Cup is underway, people here keep asking me who I'm supporting: the Netherlands or Sweden.

What a silly question.

My football heart will always cheer for Oranje. Some things are simply impossible to remove from your system.
